What is the difference between face to face and online sessions, and does it cover material costs?
The overall costings for the workshops differ between face to face and online. Workshops delivered via Zoom are at a reduced cost due to shorter periods, and using only basic materials. However, all workshops are inclusive of materials, tutored delivery, resources, room set up and management, and are calculated on the following three options:
As a one off – face to face and online via Zoom - £195 - £365
As a full day workshop (face to face only) - £475 - £625
As a course of sessions (minimum 4+ sessions) a discount will apply depending on the number of sessions booked
The cost of materials for all workshops is dependent on each specific activity, and will vary for both face to face and Zoom sessions. A studio based workshop environment is ideal, it means that the materials can be provided to share, reducing the overall costs of the workshops. Whereas a Zoom session would require individual art packs to be distributed to each participant as an option, which could be less cost effective and more time consuming.
I have adopted a flexible approach when delivering via Zoom; adapting the workshops to maintain inclusivity, by tailoring the activities to involve minimal materials at reduced costs, (A typical example – Creativity using just pen/pencil and paper).
Although a materials list is suggested for a Zoom delivery, and sent out to participants in advance, it is often difficult to gauge what materials the participants will have on the day. This could also limit participation due to individual costs incurred that could exclude participants from taking part.
